10/25-10/26 Analyzing and Synthesizing Several Sources

Goal: 

  • Use syntax, punctuation, and spelling effectively in service of rhetorical purpose.
  • Cite sources appropriately using MLA guidelines;
  • Continue to develop a problematic and significant synthesis question addressing a problem with which you will have to grapple.
  • Research different angles of vision when composing the synthesis question.
  • Summarize multiple complex texts, indicating understanding of the authors' arguments.

In Class: 

  • Read Ramage et al. 167-177
    • Do Activity on page 170
    • Know the 4 steps suggested to make an evaluation argument
  • For the activity on page 177--you will be choosing one of the topic groups assigned for your Analyzing and Synthesizing Essay, and write freely to fulfill the page 177 Assignment written in gold. 

Assignment--Decide on a topic from the list of topics that you will pursue for the next month. Turn this in in the form of the assignment on page 177.
